“I understand the importance of getting a proper diagnosis and understanding of your condition, with a treatment plan that is achievable for you.”
The goal of your initial consultation aims to:
• Professionally assess your condition/injury with physical examination.
• Documentation of your health history and listening to your concerns.
• From this place, Mel will implement treatment according to your preferences, guided by her years of clinical expertise which can combine manual therapy, prescribed exercised plans and acupuncture.
Treatment Approach
Mel has a passion for current scientific evidence and is always looking at the lifestyle aspect of a patients condition to help them transition from illness to wellness.
-
Mel is a manual therapist at heart, improving movement and function where musculoskeletal problems are indicated.
Manual therapy involves hands-on techniques designed to improve joint mobility, reduce muscle tension, relieve pain, and restore movement. These treatments are often used alongside exercise-based rehabilitation to help you move more comfortably and achieve the best possible outcomes.
It’s a key part of helping to avoid surgery in osteoarthritis patients.
-
In your day-to-day life, rehabilitation is a key part of Mel’s process outside of the clinic. You will be prescribed strengthening and mobility exercises, movement training, and load bearing strategies, along with practical advice to help maintain progress between appointments.
Each rehabilitation plan is tailored to your needs and progresses your capabilities over time to support long-term recovery and performance.
-
Mel is a member of the Australian Society of Acupuncturist Physiotherapists.
Acupuncture can be incorporated into your treatment plan to assist with pain management, muscle relaxation, and recovery.
Used alongside manual therapy and targeted exercise, it may help improve comfort, restore movement, and support your rehabilitation goals.
“I’ve seen and treated many conditions in my 25+ years of physiotherapy practice. I understand the importance of getting a proper diagnosis and understanding of your condition, with a treatment plan that is achievable for you.”
